with limited room under the amp chassis for adding the controls,
I decided that a custom enclosure needed to be built so that everything
that needed to be added would fit and look good.I decided that a piece of
sheet metal could be laid over the top of the amp that would extend a few inches
past the front for the volume, balance, bass and treble controls as well as a switch
and a fuse holder. A nicely finished wood frame would complete the custom enclosure.
Two additional tube sockets had to be added to incorporate the pre-amp from the tuner.
After careful measuring, I had a template for the metal overlay. Holes would be drilled
or cut so the tube sockets would be accessible, to clear the power transformer and for
mounting the output transformers.
